Prayer for Perspective

for justice and fairness even when
it seems the world around us is mired
in ancient antagonisms. Lend us the wisdom
to cherish each bridge we’re able to build
even when it’s neither as grand
nor as wide as the span of our dreams
and grant us the grace to trust the future
to forgive us for the things we could not
change
as it crosses the rivers we thought
impassable.
